  • Abstract
The Bai traditional wood frame house in Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan province has a long history over hundreds of years, and continues to be built at the present time. The traditional Dali Bai House is an example of these active building techniques which has a unique architectural culture. There are abundant carpenter verbal stories, concise and comprehensive building mnemonic rhymes in Dali Bai settlements. These stories and mnemonic rhymes are a consummate sum-up of the building techniques and measurement device in common use of the Bai traditional wood frame house. Research on Mnemonic Rhymes for Building Dali Bai Traditional Houses is important conservational work, which is the timely record of intangible cultural heritage of Dali Bai traditional building techniques.
