Abstract
Efficient estimates of delay are developed and incorporated into the general local area network analysis system (GLAS). This hybrid estimate is based on analytical calculations of service time and overall interarrivals to the network, and measurements of network idle cycles. At network loads varying from 0.5 to 0.95, the method provides an improvement in the confidence interval width of between one and 34. This confidence interval improvement results in a simulation time decrease of up to three orders of magnitude.<>
