Abstract
This paper presents the design and performance of a motor having two rotors along the same axis and under the span of a single stator. This special type of motor has two shafts projecting from the two ends, which are mechanically independent of each other and thus can meet the requirement of differential drive in an electrical vehicle. This paper presents the design, construction and performance data obtained from experimental results of the motor. An equivalent circuit of the motor has been developed and verified. The characteristics of the dual rotor motor have been obtained experimentally from a prototype and presented in this paper.
