Abstract
This paper presents a laboratory study on the effect of rubber powder on the performance of thermal insulating mortar with glazed hollow bead. The test results show that with the dosage of rubber powder increases, the consistency of thermal insulating mortar decreases. However, the apparent density is adversely affected, and thermal conductivity increases firstly and decreases laterly. Rubber powder can bind better with the organic compounds in the thermal insulating mortar, and have a affect of closing the open pore-structures, so the water in the mortar is controlled and the drying shrinkage of the thermal insulating mortar decline. The addition of rubber powder significantly increases the ratio of the flexural strength to compressive strength, however, with the addition dosage of the rubber powder increases, the compressive strength of thermal insulating mortar significantly decline. For a specific insulation mortar in this paper, there will exist the best mixing amount 3% of rubber powder.
