Abstract
A yukata is a type of traditional Japanese kimono. An alignment of its texture pattern is an important factor of the yukata design. Recently, a mobile phone has extremely developed. We can easily access and use Web service by the mobile phone. In this paper, we describe about a design support system for Japanese kimono using mobile phone. The design support system is a Web service. A database of the yukata texture and the traditional texture alignment methods is integrated in this system. A female student chooses a texture pattern. And she sends her body measurement, such as the height, the sleeve plus shoulder length and the hip measurements. And an external program that is integrated on the database performs automatic texture alignment. The designed yukata is displayed on the mobile phone immediately, and she can check the yukata. She can request redesign of the yukata if the designed yukata does not satisfy her taste. By repeating trial and error, the realistic texture alignment became possible. By using this design support system, a female student can easily tailor the yukata regardless of their skill.
