Abstract
For that automotive engine fueled with natural gas required more spark energy in starting process, a new type of ignition system was developed to solve the questions that engine was hard to start and was misfired in heavy load. ATmaga8 single-chip microcontroller was adopted as the core of the ignition control system and C language was used to develop engine program. Based on the cylinder detection signal input and the ignition signal from ECU, with the PWM wave of counter 2, ignition control signal was output. The primary circuit of ignition coil was controlled by the driving circuit in order to control the spark timing. The spark energy was enhanced effectively before TDC due to the about 100 times ignitions. The experimental results show that the spark energy of the new type ignition system is much larger than the conventional one.
