Abstract
This paper presents a methodology for the analysis of distribution systems under sinusoidal, nonsinusoidal, balanced and unbalanced situations. Power quantities included in the IEEE 1459-2010 are obtained and compared with traditional calculations in order to establish the impact of these new definitions in the results of power factor, active power, apparent power and energy measurement. Additionally, a computational implementation of an IEEE 1459-meter is presented. The results of this virtual tool are compared with a conventional digital meter (DM).
