Abstract
A partial order based method is presented for multi criteria decision making (MCDM), using a modified and novel partial order theory (POT) approach. The aim of this paper is to resolve some drawbacks of several conventional methods of determining the best alternative. The proposed approach incorporates data matrices, which results in different scenarios (alternatives), with their specific probabilities, called linear extensions (LE). Thereafter, the ranking probability matrix (RPM) is obtained, which will lead us to a total order ranking of the MCDM alternatives. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed MCDM method, a shopping case study is conducted and capabilities of the proposed methodology are demonstrated.
