Abstract
Modern surge protective devices allow not only a reliable protection against overvoltages and lightning currents but also an uninterrupted power supply simultaneously. The limited lightning current carrying capability of low-voltage fuses and other overcurrent protection elements requires the coordination of all these elements. A new generation of lightning current arresters limits voltage drops and overvoltages even in the case of direct lightning strikes
