Abstract
Information of Web applications is being exchanged and presented over the internet by using Extensible Markup Language (XML) and XML schema documents (XSD). In the software development process, the design of XSD requires quantifying with software qualities because of important role. Reusable and extensible qualities are important in the software development process to reduce development time. This paper proposes two metrics to measure and evaluate reusable and extensible qualities of XSD documents based on Entropy method. As a result, the metrics can provide valuable information to software developers for improving the quality of web applications. The validity of the present metrics is empirically proved through real standard XML schema files and the results of these metrics are compared with the results of the self-organizing feature map (SOM).
