Abstract
The research topic which was first and poorly called “cold fusion” is now termed Low Energy Nuclear Reactions (LENR). Due to relentless experimentation over the past 20 years, we now know that it is possible to use chemical energies on the scale of electron volts (eV) at ordinary temperatures to trigger nuclear reactions, which yield millions of eV (MeV) of energy per reaction. But, experimental problems persist, and the physics is still not adequately understood.
