Abstract
In WLAN systems that adopt PBCC modulation, reduced-state equalization algorithms are generally used to reduce the computation burden compared with MLSE. Such equalizers have only high performance, if the overall discrete time system to be equalized is minimum phase. Whitened matched filter (WMF) is a kind of prefilter that transforms the channel impulse response into its minimum phase equivalent. The principle and realization of WMF are described in this paper. Computer simulation results indicate that satisfactory receiver performance can be obtained when adopting WMF as the prefilter for reduced-state equalizers.
