  • Abstract
This study conducts a thematic analysis of the records management policies and supporting information of 15 U.S. federal executive departments and 5 of the largest independent agencies, providing a framework for analyzing the effectiveness of differing policy approaches in addressing social media content. Future research is recommended in order to gain a greater understanding of this issue by conducting a comprehensive analysis of all U.S. federal department and agency records management policies. In addition, research is needed to study the implementation of the policies in practice.
