Abstract
This paper is intended as a guide on the relative effects of loading, service factor and temperature on the expected insulation life of electric motors. Most refinery, pipeline and chemical plant operators are not motor or insulation designers; neither are the authors. But they do have many discussions with plant operators who want to know the practical answers to questions involving these factors. This paper attempts to address these questions with practical answers
