Abstract
This paper describes the development of a language and reporting structure for pathologists in the reporting of oesophageal biopsies. Biopsies are needed to confirm a diagnosis after endoscopic procedures and it has been noted that differences of diagnosis exist between pathologists. An ontology is proposed that is expected to reduce the variations that currently exist. The reporting procedure was field tested by a selection of consultant pathologists. The result of the testing is reported.
