  • Abstract
The progress in radio-on-fiber techniques using two-mode injection-locked Fabry-Perot (FP) lasers is reviewed in this paper. Recent technical approaches are presented. Cost-effective and high-performance techniques are reported. Two-mode 60 GHz-band optical MM-wave generation with a low phase noise, low fiber dispersion, and wide tunable range are obtained. By direct current modulation of the FP laser, the data transmission of a 2.5-Gbps ASK signal over 16-km optical fiber and a 622-Mbps BPSK signal over 32-km fiber are demonstrated for a downlink system. CW signal transmission with low phase noise of -95 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz offset is tested for the uplink system.
