Abstract
Although mobile computing is becoming reality due to the availability of high-bandwidth mobile communication technologies, WWW and mobile devices, the general-purpose operating systems are not completely capable of supporting mobile computing paradigm. The concept of mobile distributed virtual memory (MDVM) has addressed the distributed resource utilization under static-servers/mobile-clients architecture. The MDVM system design incorporates the page cache swapper subsystem, which employs the fuzzy adaptive page replacement algorithm (FAPR). The cache swapper of MDVM system takes the decision of page replacement based on the reference string generated by mobile clients. This paper describes the page cache swapper design based on FAPH algorithm. The experimental prototype of MDVM system is based on the Linux 2.4,22 monolithic kernel. The FAPR algorithm is simulated and the results demonstrate that the algorithm performs significantly better than LRU and LFU algorithms
