Abstract
The probe-fed circular microstrip patch antenna incorporating a single shorting post can significantly reduce the overall size of the antenna. This kind of antenna is seen as a promising candidate for miniaturized mobile telecommunication handsets. In this paper, an analytical theory for the impedance behaviour and radiation characteristics of the small circular patch is presented; the theoretical results agree with the experimental ones very well.
