Abstract
Public participation is an essential and growing element in the routing process for electric transmission lines. The trend is for more active participation by the public and more requirements by agencies to include public involvement in the route selection process. The emphasis is shifting to demonstrating that the utility has actually used the public input. This overview of public involvement sets the stage for the discussion of a particular technique developed by the panel members for gathering public input
