Abstract
A nature-inspired method of image feature extraction is proposed based on the ant swarm system. The perceptual graph is proposed to represent the relationship between adjacent image points, from which the image features can be extracted. The ant colony system is applied to build the perceptual graph. Edge feature extraction and image segmentation are implemented with the proposed method. The experimental results show that the artificial ant swarm can effectively perform feature extraction in digital images.
