  • Abstract
Block coded modulation (BCM) schemes have been shown that present useful performance in the sense of significant coding gain without the increase in bandwidth necessarily required by more conventional channel coding. In this paper a novel approach for enhancing the bandwidth efficiency is introduced, in which multiple-symbol sequences are constructed by several BCM schemes and are mapped with MPSK modulation. This new design, called MS-BCM-MPSK, which for simplicity with double-symbol and 16-PSK signalling is simulated over an uncorrelated fading channel, and its performance is compared with some TCM codes. Trellis decoding of the scheme and the structural development is detailed
