Abstract
The author discusses a method for implementing an entity-relationship (ER) query and update interface called ERQUI. The approach is based on using a relational database management system as a major component of the ERQUI system architecture. During the process of manipulation of ER diagrams the information needed to generate an equivalent SQL query or update is accumulated in a specially designed database.
