Abstract
A knowledge-base system that combines AI (artificial intelligence) techniques and translation schemes is proposed to solve the three basic problems in transporting software, i.e. project planning, software translation, and human reeducation. The proposed system consists of four major subsystems: knowledge acquisition, transportation planning, software translation, and reeducation. The knowledge-acquisition subsystem is activated by human experts in the training phase to update knowledge saved in the knowledge base. The other three subsystems are activated in the using phase to serve general users in transportation planning, software translation, and reeducation. The knowledge base created through the knowledge acquisition subsystem in the training phase substantially supports the required machine intelligence for the other three working subsystems
