Abstract
Leaky prediction schemes have been proposed to reduce transmission error propagation by trading off with video coding efficiency. We propose using leaky prediction to improve the robustness of generalized source channel prediction scheme for H.264/AVC in error prone scenarios. We apply leaky prediction selectively at a macroblock level based on a simple mean square error metric in order to reduce the bit-rate penalty. Substantial performance gains were observed in simulations for medium and fast moving video sequences.
