Abstract
A novel color identification device is presented. The hardware and software of the device are introduced, and experimental results are given. A CCD (charge coupled device) sensor with high sensitivity, high steady and flat spectral response, and low noise, which has 2592 effective sensing elements, is adopted in this device as the color sensor. By carefully designing the optical part and electrical part, adopting a special method, color identification and measurement are realized with relatively high accuracy and high speed. This device can be used as part of the color vision in intelligent robots and it may be applied to color quality monitoring in many industrial fields, e.g., textile printing and paper making
