Abstract
The intra (I) or inter (P-forward prediction) frame in the given video sequence are compressed in wavelet domain. The intra frames are wavelet transformed with three levels, coded and quantized using SPIHT (Set Partitioning in Hierarchical Tree) and run-length coding. The inter frames of video sequence are wavelet transformed with three levels and encoded by forward prediction from the preceding wavelet transform and SPIHT decoded frames. Multi-resolution motion estimation and compensation is done in wavelet domain. Motion vectors so produced are coded using zero tree motion vector coder. Motion compensated wavelet coefficients are quantized and coded using SPIHT and run-length coder. The video decoder is an exact reverse of the video encoder.
