Abstract
The processes causing a very strong decrease in electrical conductivity after charging the polymer foils are considered. The relation between the shape of electret from and its stability is also discussed. The main reason why the electrical conductivity measured under a strong, static electric field is much lower in comparison with the low field conductivity, is a competition between the rate of the carriers generation in the thermal activation processes and the rate of carriers captured on electrodes and by free charge present in an electret. Eventually the excess charge enter the conduction band causing a decrease of electrical conductivity by a few orders of magnitude
