Abstract
The authors deal with the design and implementation of the operator console module developed for a computerized numerical controller (CNC) project. An object-oriented development method was used. The implementation language chosen was Ada, and the target was an IBM-PC AT 286 board. The problem has been solved in a way that gives the final software some important properties, such as reusability, maintainability, and portability. The points discussed include the management of concurrent activities with a possible multiwindow display. An example is given of the design method by applying it to create a text editor
