Abstract
A discussion is given on the police info-communication system, ROBOT KOBAN, which serves as a 24 hour base living security center in Japan. The main components of a ROBOT KOBAN system are as follows: visiting person´s entrance detection system; TV talking system for visiting person to make contact with a police officer at the central police station; automated map guidance system for showing the way; workstation to access the database at the police station or even headquarters; surveillance camera to monitor the KOBAN at the police station; and intrusion and fire detection system to guard KOBAN itself
