Abstract
This paper proposes a new cognitive model, called “Segmentron”, for Chinese character description and recognition. The cognitive model consists of three layers: (1) perceptual extraction for skeleton feature, (2) affine description in convex space, and (3) entropic evolutionary classification for optimization. With the model mentioned above, the correct classification result can be given and recognized characters can also be found efficiently. The model is practical for Chinese character description and recognition and can be applied in the computer system for Chinese character recognition
