Abstract
Firstly, harmonic generated by power electronic equipments and harmonic hazards are reviewed. In order to improve the quality of power supply, basic operation principles of four techniques which raise the power factor are analyzed, such as active power filter, power factor correction, PWM rectifier and matrix converter. Simultaneously, some new technologies of improving the power factor and harmonic suppression are presented.
