Abstract
This paper deals with the rapid magnetic flux change in small amorphous soft magnetic strip-wound cores with /spl Phi/=1.6 mVs made of VITROVAC 7600Z. The cores are excited by traveling square-wave pulses with a magnitude adjustable from 20 to 70 kV. Capacitive voltage sensors and Rogowski coils are used to measure the concomitant electric and magnetic fields. Core losses and hysteresis waveforms of the core material at very high magnetic reversal velocities are presented.
