  • Abstract
    New methods for signal processing in online electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring have been developed, which allow ECG-monitoring in spite of the frequent noise signals and motion artifacts. The signal processing includes: a filter for suppression of line interference without distorting the ECG; QRS detection that separates primary ventricular beats and normal QRS complexes and that is insensitive against noise signals; and noise detection, which detects motion artifacts and excludes the disturbed ECG intervals from evaluation. The signal processing methods have been implemented in an ECG-monitoring system. It was successfully used in 15 patients after thrombolysis and 20 patients with instable angina pectoris in order to diagnose an occurring ischemia as fast as possible
