  • Abstract
Ni-Ti alloy is one of the conventional orthodontic wires is. This alloy has a shining metallic appearance which it does not match with the teeth that. Disadvantage of these wires is releasing Ni ion which is harmful for human´s body. The aim of this research is to coat a nano size Pt on the Ni-Ti orthodontic wire, in order to make them more biocompatible and modify their color similar to the teeth. Design of electrochemical pulse deposit experiments were based on Taguchi method. A homogenous nano size layer with suitable adherence, color and surface coverage were achieved in pH=0.4, temperature of 76°C, K2PtCl6 electrolyte salt concentration of 2.85 mM, current density of 1.84 A/cm2, frequency 37 hertz, duty cycle 7% and in of 13 minutes. Adding Saccharine up to 0.1 g/L to the electrolyte modified the size of deposited particles and decreases from of 80 to 30 nanometer but the sediment thickness of the layer were reduced and the resulting color was darker.
