Abstract
A highly accurate analog-to-digital-digital-to-analog (A/D-D/A) conversion method based on a multistage noise shaping (MASH) technology is described. Using MASH technology, 16-b A/D- and 17-b D/A-conversion LSIs for digital audio have been developed and commercialized. The authors explain the principle of noise shaping and the MASH technology, discusses the development of highly accurate A/D-D/A converters for measurement applications, and present a synchronized pure sine wave generator based on MASH technology. Performance evaluations are presented, confirming the suitability of MASH for audio and measurement applications
