Abstract
The hardware structure of a custom-designed multisensor computer system for diagnosing various functions of machine tools is presented. Measurement algorithms that assure high flexibility in configuring complex measurement lines, designing measurement strategies, and displaying the results are given. Problems which concern the determination of diagnostic standards are reported. The application of the system to acceptance diagnosis of machine tools and periodic diagnosis of machines already in service is described
