Abstract
For traditional differential fed microstrip patch antenna, the phase difference between the two excitation ports is set to 180°. In this paper, the radiation and scattering characteristics of differential microstrip antenna fed by phase difference out of 180° are studied. The variations of the co-polarization and cross-polarization radiations of the antenna are analyzed, and the bi-static and mono-static scattering properties of the antenna are also studied. The radiation and scattering characteristics of the two port fed differential antenna are compared with those of the single port fed antennas. Research results show that it is possible to find a phase difference of excitation of dual-port fed antenna that gives low cross-polarization radiation and low scattering.
