Abstract
Z-Source network, as a DC-link energy storage subcircuit, was proposed to be used in inverters due to its merits as compared to the traditional LC DC-link. In this paper a modified Z-source (MZS) network is used in order to reduce the number of switches in a single-phase full bridge inverter, from four switches to only two switches, as well as to maintain the desired average voltage level in the DC link. The open loop and closed loop voltage control methods of the MZS single phase inverter with RL load is presented. The topologies are validated by digital simulations of the circuits in PSIM.
