Abstract
EBG structures can be implemented in planar circuit technology by applying a periodic perturbation function on the host transmission line. By doing so, frequency selective behavior can be imposed on the original transmission line, such as a microstrip line or a coplanar waveguide. This leads to the implementation of many devices in a wide frequency range, opening new possibilities in the design of high frequency circuits.
