Introducing foreign capital has been a key procedure of this round´s reform of Chinese banking. Using a panel of 62 China´s banks through the 2002-2006 transition period, this paper investigated the impact of foreign strategic investors´ participation on the innovation ability of China´s banks. We developed an empirical model to controll the effect of macroeconomic condition, bank characteristics and selection bias. The results show that introducing foreign strategic investors improves the innovation ability of China´s banks significantly. This finding appears to be robust.
