Abstract
We propose a heuristic algorithm that can determine the locations of optoelectronic and electro-optic conversions in all-optical wavelength-routing networks, to set up a connection request in a multihop manner if the estimated bit error rate (BER) for the connection is high, so that the signal can be regenerated in some intermediate nodes ensuring a low BER.
