Abstract
Neural networks and expert systems are two fruits of AI with differing approaches. It is only a logical evolution that these two be incorporated in a single system to complement each other. The author outlines the limitations of both expert systems and neural networks. A new method to combine the two approaches in the biomedical engineering domain is then proposed.
