Abstract
This paper presents a ΔΣ ADC designed for a low power microsensor application. Power saving is achieved by utilizing input signal double sampling and a high impedance CM voltage source. In addition to supply voltage and ground, no low impedance references are used. CDS technique is successfully combined with the circuit utilizing the high impedance CM voltage source. The circuit is implemented in 0.35 μm CMOS process using a 3.6 V supply voltage. The 250 kHz clock for the ADC is generated on-chip. The measured results show an input referred noise density of 1.3 μV/√(Hz) and a maximum SNR of 83 dB for a 1 kHz noise BW. Power consumption of the circuit, excluding the clock generator, is 170 μW.
