  • Abstract
    The intelligent agricultural environment monitoring system is one of the applications of wireless sensor networks (WSNs), which has an extensive application and bright foreground. In the intelligent monitoring system, the gateway is important equipment for realizing the interconnection between WSNs and internet freely. For this purpose, this paper proposes designs and implements a kind of embedded gateway based on ARM9 processor. The core hardware chips are AT91RM9200 for ARM and JN5139 for Zigbee, with serial port for the communication each other, then extending multiple functional hardware modules. At the same time, on this platform, embedded ARM Linux based on version 2.4 kernel is introduced. Experiment results show that the gateway interconnects the WSNs and the internet freely, which data can be transmitted with Ethernet, WLAN communication methods. It has the useful characteristics of low power and real-time, easy to use and integration.
