Abstract
A model of the motor unit action potential based on three dimensional muscle was used to simulate surface EMG signals. Spectrum and time responses are investigated in order to have an idea about the functional state of the muscle. Because of the nature of EMG signal, which is supposed to be a spatial summation of motor unit action potential, the authors applied a spatial filter on the signal to improve the SNR. Finally, the authors showed the effect of the position of the bipolar electrodes array for surface EMG recording
