Abstract
We have developed the theory for near-field microwave probing of spherical object placed inside the uniform half-space. The model has been applied to the problem of breast cancer detection. The analysis is based on the calculations of measured parameters in dependence of the tumor size and depth. The model experiment on detection of the contrast object immersed to water has been done. Our calculations and measurements gave the maximal depth of tumor detection ~ 1-2 cm.
