  • Abstract
    In This paper, we study the application of the Residue Number System in Digital Image Processing and propose a scheme in digital image filtering of spatial and frequency domain based on the Residue Number System which leads to performance of the integration circuits with high speeds and high security and low power for Digital Image Processing. In this method the selected mask in the residue system moves on the desired image and we compute gray levels of the pixels of new images based on mask values, all computations of this method will be done in the Residue Number System. Then we design circuits of binary to residue conversion and vice versa which in is used Matlab Software and also VLSI tools for simulation. Preliminary simulation results show that the proposed scheme has the ability of digital image filtering. In the second section we introduce filtering operation and residue number system. In the third section, we offer proposed scheme and also show binary systems´ conversions design to residue system (B/R) and vice versa (R/B). Here we also discuss about look-up table, security and filtering issues in frequency domain, and an example of proposed scheme. In the fourth section, we simulate and compare previous methods with this new method. Finally in the fifth section the results are presented.
