Abstract
As an approximation of various industry applications such as microdischarge, xerography, electrostatic precipitation, and electrostatic filters, an electrostatic problem for a system consisting of a solid dielectric sphere and a semi-infinite dielectric plane in the presence of a uniform field is solved with a simplified model. The relationships among the extreme values of stress on the surface of the sphere, the electrostatic force acting thereupon, the system geometry, and the dielectric constants are given.<>
