Abstract
Median filter is a well-known nonlinear filter. The key problem of the application of the median filter in image denoising is the selection of the filter window size. A larger filter window of the median filter will enhances its power in suppressing noise but in preserving edges. In this paper, a multiscale median filter is presented. The advantage of this filter is that though a large filter window is employed, it can still preserve edges efficiently.
