Abstract
A theoretical study of the magnetostatic forward-volume-wave (MSFVW) dimensional resonances of a rectangular YIG (yttrium iron garnet) film cavity is presented and takes into account the evanescent fields in the air region surrounding the cavity. The inclusion of the air field represents an important advance over previous studies which ignored these fields by making the simplifying assumption that the four cavity walls normal to the plane of the YIG film are magnetic walls. The proposed method uses a building-block approach and is based on a determination of the MSFVW reflection coefficient for the case of oblique incidence at a single YIG-film wall
